btnx and btnx-config no longer in AUR?

I use btnx to set up my extra mouse buttons.

Recently I noticed btnx was removed from AUR. I checked the author's website, it states that btnx is no longer supported because it does'nt work properly with newest (xorg?) versions. Looks like it actually doesn't work properly with latest Ubuntu. The author advises to use easystroke instead.

easystroke is nice, and although its primary use is mouse gestures, it can be used to configure mouse extra buttons as well. It use a per-user approach, whereas btnx runs systemwise as a daemon. IMHO, there both have their advantages, but speaking for mysel I prefer btnx. In addition, btnx still work fine on arch.

Would it be possible for the original btnx and btnx-config contributor to re-upload its files to AUR?

Thanks.

If it's no longer maintained upstream, there is little point in having it in the AUR. Do you not have the PKGBUILDs youself from the last time you built it?

Being no longer maintained doesn't mean it's no longer useful. As long as it works, it should be present in AUR. If it eventually ends up not being usable, I understand there's no point in keeping it since it'll never be updated. Well, that's my opinion anyway.

And no, I don't have the PKGBUILD...

If it once has been in AUR, the PKGBUILD should still be available.

Edit: You can get it from http://aur.archlinux.org/packages/btnx- … fig.tar.gz and http://aur.archlinux.org/packages/btnx/btnx.tar.gz, try it and eventually reupload it, if it still works. Both programs build for me, but I cannot test them professionally.

Another option might be evrouter (that is in AUR). It can configure mouse buttons as well as keyboard keys and works fine with old and new Xorg versions.

Old thread, I know, but I found a PKGBUILD.
