Hi!
I'd like to buy laptop, which works good with Arch Linux. Size: at the most 16". It will be mainly used in programming, but sometimes I want to play games on Windows. I found MSI EX625 as a good choice, but I heard there are problems with AMD/Ati graphic drivers. Has the situation improved and the AMD/Ati drivers are as good as nVidia? What other laptops in this price could you recommend me?
Thanks for help

The Ati cards are still not playing all that nice right now. nVidia hasn't given me a lick of trouble. That said, graphics cards still do not have the level of power in Linux that they do in Windows, no matter who the manufacturer is.
From what I have seen, Dell and IBM are the two that run Linux the best. I know that Dell doesn't exactly have the best name is computing, but I have never had a bit of trouble with my Inspiron or my fiance's XPS under Linux beyond the mess ups that I make and the occasional bug.
I keep getting distracted from my webserver project...
huh? oooh... shiny!

I concur - I've successfully set up Ubuntu on my girlfriend's IBM R61e and Ubuntu then Arch on my Dell XPS m1330. No big difficulties encountered ;o)
The IBM's video card is an Intel one, Dell's is nVidia. Both work just fine.

My Asus works just fine, here.
Though brands are good and well, you should probably scout out a model you like, get the specs, and then search for those components. In general I don't believe you'll have all THAT much trouble unless you're using more exotic stuf, touchpads, your fingerprint sensor, broadcom wireless, etc.

Avoid ati and get one with intel wifi.

Right, Intel cards tend to work out-of-the-box.

HP runs linux nice too, usually. Their professional line has some models tested for OpenSuSE compatibility which almost guarantees it'll run well .
