When I start the root terminal under gnome 2.26, it ask for credidentials and, right after, dissapear.
Any ideas ?

Yes, i use the same version and it dissappears. I can be root when i use su root or sudo in gnome-terminal.

I've got the same problem here. Happened as soon I updated to Gnome 2.26.

Same problem with nautilus if you use the context menu to Open as Administrator.

and what should we do know? use xterm? or Terminal from xfce?
For me run gnome-terminal as root with "gksu -l gnome-terminal" (standard) does not work anymore but "gksu -l 'nautilus --no-desktop --browser' " works fine for a admin Filebrowser.
So it is the Gnome-Terminal.....
