Hello, anyone got any experience with Sis Mirage 3+ intergrated graphics hardware on linux?
Use the Source, Luke!

Yes, there is a driver for it, which works quite well:
# pacman -S xf86-video-sis

I take up again the post to remember the same question...
Sis graphic doesn't work in Arch Linux actually at may 2008 with xorg 7.3, i can use just vesa.
Anyone knows how do it ?
Thanks,
Santiago.

I have a MIrage 1...
sis drivers "work" but i have some strange artefacts and obviously no compositing...
I am using the vesa driver, because everything looks better, but moving the windows is kinda "choppy"
//edit
the artifacts-problem seems to exist in a lot (if not all) linux distributions

Is possible to find a driver for Sis 671/771
You can find some information and downlods here:

Hello there,
The two most recent drivers that are on that page for download, don't work anymore with the latest xorg-server 1.6.0.
Worst part is, I didn't even remember that this driver would possibly give me problems, so I didn't even backup the old xorg packages.
Damn...

Hello again!
I can finally run xorg-server 1.6.1 using Bartlomiej's latest modified SiS driver for the Mirage 3 (771/671) graphics card.
I just added the following option in the Device section in the xorg.conf file:
Option "DRI" "0"
According to Bartlomiej, this is due to a bug in DRIFinishScreenInit.
Do the devs already know about this, or should I fill a bug report?
