I'm still finishing up my girlfriend's Linux machine and I've run into an issue that I can't resolve very easily.
She's used to Windows being able to take her soundcard (ADI ADI1988B) and have windows send a different sound signal to the front port than it did to the back port. Same sound card, but it could redirect a video game's sound to her headphones (front port) while she listened to Tool on her speakers (Back port).
How on earth do I even do that in Linux? Right now it shows three devices in aplay -l
ad198x Analog
ad198x Digital
ATI HDMI
Now, she obviously is using ad198x Analog in alsamixer. Thoughts? Solutions? Help make a girl happy with her Arch install!

I don't know the answer (maybe this?) but I just had to say nice one on getting a girlfriend that plays video games, listens to Tool, wants to try Arch and lets you play with her ports.
