Re: [req] x-plane

I don't know how many people actually are going to have this program or be able to make a package build for it, seeing as you have to pay for it, and it comes on 6 dvd's.  I would assume installation isn't too hard though, if you actually have the dvd's?  Have you ever tried out flightgear? It's a free and open source flight sim that is pretty good.

Re: [req] x-plane

8.64 seems to work though(http://dev.x-plane.com/update/installers/X-PlaneInstaller123Linux.zip).. downloading it now, but i can't be arsed to make a PKGBUILD. i had to do this though which is normally not recommended(but since it's not opensource i can't rebuild the app..):

  sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libopenal.so.1.7.411 /usr/lib/libopenal.so.0

if youre not running as root you will have to install it to your home dir or someplace else where you have permissions. i also had to try a couple of different servers before i got it downloading

Re: [req] x-plane

I didn't run FlightGear for some time now. But if I recall right so does FlightGear use some of the same data as x-plane.

Just looked this up in the FlightGear FAQ:

2.8 - How current is the data in FlightGear compared to the real world?

We use the same navaid and airport dataset that X-Plane uses. The current dataset can be found in the $FGROOT/Navaids/ and $FGROOT/Airports/ directories. If you have updates or corrections to the dataset, see http://flightgear.org/Docs/AirNav/AptNa … tGear.html for instructions on contacting the database maintainer.
