xfree86 problems

I'm trying to install Arch from the CD, and don't want xfree86 installed.  I don't know how to keep it from being installed, however, since it doesn't seem to appear on the list of packages to be installed.  After installation, it always ends up showing as an installed package.  What do I have to do to prevent its installation?

Re: xfree86 problems

if you are using 0.6 just install "base" and install xorg from the mirror,

or you can use 0.7beta, i think that xorg is default x-server on that

arch + gentoo + initng + python = enlisy

Re: xfree86 problems

on your previous efforts you probably had something selected theat brought X with it. As mentioned if you install just the base you will get just the base package set without any X.

you can't remove X though if you don't want to bother with reinstalling just be aware that whatever depended on it will be removed too (unless you specify otherwise)

Re: xfree86 problems

OK, thanks.  I got it uninstalled and put in xorg.  Now I have other problems.  If you're at all interested in helping me out with them, here's the link:
