Yes, if my changes work locally I push it to github and Google appengine.

Re: ArchLinux Web Browser Start Page

Might want to adjust the width in #updates as x86_64 is below i686, unless if thats what you want.

Re: ArchLinux Web Browser Start Page

No, it's not wink
edit: well, it was in Opera. Added some safety margin.

edit2: another problem is glyph width, perhaps I will switch to a monospaced font for the sake of consistency.

Re: ArchLinux Web Browser Start Page

I updated arch-home to v0.5, lots of changes:

06/28/09
-Server now handles search requests (webpy). There is no longer a need for javascript.
-News bar stays on one line. overflow: hidden is set so the news items will not go into a new line
-If pkg names are to long they are display either as pkgname-pkgver or pkgname
    -Minor css fixes/improvements
-RSS feeds are cached on the local server under arch-home/cache
*PKG feed is updated every 15 minutes
*News feed is updated every 30 minutes

Re: ArchLinux Web Browser Start Page

Hey,

I managed to get the width of the box that contains pkgnames right with some css trickery, checkout my testing branch for a prototype. I will definitely use the RSS caching, I noticed that appengine likes to throw an exception if a query expires.

Re: ArchLinux Web Browser Start Page

I've made a dark-themed start page for Google App Engine that allows mouse-free use.

By default, the form field is focused, so you can enter your query and press Enter. (Google is the default search engine.)

You may change the search engine by pressing the key that corresponds to the search engine when the text field is not in focus.  "g" will select Google; "w" will select the wiki; "a" will select the AUR.  These letters are also underlined on the page.

I find it easiest to type the term, press tab (focusing the submit button, but effectively doing nothing), press the key for the search engine, and then Enter to be the easiest.

If there is any interest in it, I will post the code to GitHub or BitBucket shortly.

EDIT: I was stupid enough to forget a link: http://arch-startpage.appspot.com

Re: ArchLinux Web Browser Start Page

Ooh nice.  I'm definitely using some of the elements from this in the Arch Linux Afterglow Edition Start Page.
