tty wrong key layout?

Hello, when I boot up my keyboard layout isn't quite right, the majority of the keys work but for example: when I type 'a' it registers as 'q'. This corrects itself after x starts though. I can't login because of this (along with many other hinderences) and therefore have to have x autostart. Here is rc.conf:

LOCALE="en_US.utf8"
HARDWARECLOCK="UTC"
USEDIRECTISA="no"
TIMEZONE="America/New_York"
KEYMAP="qwerty/no"
CONSOLEFONT="ter-v16b"
CONSOLEMAP=
USECOLOR="yes"

MOD_AUTOLOAD="yes"
#MOD_BLACKLIST=() #deprecated
MODULES=()

USELVM="no"

HOSTNAME="pharcydez"

eth0="dhcp"
INTERFACES=(eth0)
ROUTES=(!gateway)
#syslog-ng
DAEMONS=(preload hal network netfs @oss @crond @mpd @openntpd)
