Sporadic Error

Sorry for the ambiguity of the title but I'm pretty sure this isn't a kernel panic and I don't know what else to call it.

Up until yesterday's kernel update (from 2.6.29.1-3 -> 2.6.29.1-4) this problem had disappeared for quite some time. Since that upgrade my system has been crashing often and throwing the error below while apparently screwing with Emerald's theme (compiz still works but the title bars to all my windows are gone).

Any idea? I've tried looking into this before but after one update it just disappeared so that fell by the wayside.

On a related note, anyone know how I can revert back to 2.6.29.1-3? I've tried ABS but it downloads the same kernel regardless of the pkg_rel.

Thanks.

Re: Sporadic Error

Does anyone know how I should even begin to find out what the problem is?

http://users.archlinux.de/~gerbra/mirrorcheck.html

Pick one of the mirrors that don't sync as often and check there. I don't know how to go about debugging kernel panics like these though...

invalid opcode: 0000 [#4]

may be of some help maybe.

virati,

You can get it from here:

Re: Sporadic Error

And just for clarification - 2.6.29.1-3 and 2.6.29.1-4 are built from the same kernel sources (pkgver=2.6.29.1), so that's why the build process "downloads the same kernel". The pkgrel change from -3 to -4 indicates that this was an Arch change only, and the details of that change are available in the SVN repo.
