libstd++ issue?

I just did a system upgrade (pacman -Syu), and now I get the error:

checking if C++ programs can be compiled... no
configure: error: Your Installation isn't able to compile simple C++ programs.
Check config.log for details - if you're using a Linux distribution you might miss
a package named similiar to libstd++-dev.

when I attempt to do any type of makepkg command. During the upgrade, gcc was upgraded to 3.4.3-1. Is anybody else seeing this?

The strange this is that I can compile my own code which uses STL without any problems.

Re: libstd++ issue?

Now for the strange news, if I say copy the source for kdemultimedia and do a ./configure, then all is well. Man, I hope this is a hint for someone because I have no idea!!!

Re: libstd++ issue?

Have even rebooted several times since (for other reasons), but have the same results.

Re: libstd++ issue?

ok.

1. your system is completely up-to-date?

2. is this happening on ALL abs builds?

3. can you list the builds?

4. could it be the modifications you were making?

5. were you building as root or using the fakeroot option? (some source just plain old needs root environment to build)

Re: libstd++ issue?

1. your system is completely up-to-date?

Yes, I just did a pacman -Suy.

2. is this happening on ALL abs builds?

As far as I can tell all that perform a './configure' that is doing the C++ test. The test code looks like it is looking for STL which my personel code uses and compiles.

3. can you list the builds?

All builds under the 'abs/extra/kde' is a good starting point.

4. could it be the modifications you were making?

The only mod's I made were to the compiling flags in makepkg.conf, but those changes were made some time ago. The flags never gave me any problems building before.

5. were you building as root or using the fakeroot option? (some source just plain old needs root environment to build)

I was logged in under my normal account. I event tried su'ing as root for the build, but it still failed. The 'fakeroot' option means absolultely nothing to me so I don't think I was using it directly.
:shock:
