Intel 865G troubles
Hi all
I have some issues with my 865G intel onboard graphics, which i was forced to use after my radeon 9600 got burned (at least i think, black screen at start, and I've heard that its typical for this cards).
I used same xorg.conf at every config :

EndSectionSo, where to start :
1) Currently only one working combination is legacy intel driver and no KMS, but on this combo, it looks like only applications run as root can use (or suffer from?) that card, f.e. glxgears run 500fps vs 200 on normal user, teeworlds is quite playable on root (addiction ftw), but on normal user its slideshow.

lockup3) when I try normal intel driver, X starts, but there are some small corruptions (like missing chars and buggy linux at conky, glxgears is mess), and after a while, guess what, X freezes, Ctrl-Atlt-Backspace doesn't work, (Yes, i have DontZap in xorg.conf, it works before that freeze).

4) and finally, when I try normal intel driver with KMS, X start, I can see no cursor, and it freezes after a while.

Hope someone has solution to some of this problems, ideal state (utopy?) would be normal driver with KMS an acceleration at normal user too

Why do you turn tiling off? Does it give you problems if you leave it on?
With the legacy driver you might want to try the older AccelMethod, XAA. But if you want KMS you should use the newer one.
About the user vs. root, does adding the following to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file helps?

I don't remember why i have tiling off, legacy driver works ok with it enabled.
And why should I try XAA? Isn't EXA faster? I need some performance for teeworlds too 
, and with KMS UXA is chosen aotumatically.
with KMS on legacy there are some more serious issues, it looks like some memory problem.

On older chips XAA used to be faster than EXA, that's why I suggested that with the legacy driver you might want to try it.
Yes, KMS should not be used with the legacy driver. If you want KMS, use the newer one.
What happens wih the new driver if you don't turn tiling off? Disabling tiling should harm performance, so if you don't have problems with it you shouldn't disable it.

Hi,
I tried new driver without tiling disabled (its a bit faster now), with uxa and exa it works, but is unstable like in previous post, resizing xterm freezes it totally.
With xaa it crashes right after start, WM does not seem to run. (there are logs : XAA, EXA & UXA)
And, please, could someone recommend me a 2D performance benchmark? With old driver I am not able to see performance changes related to different acceleration methods
