Hey, I've had this strange problem since getting my new computer and I can't find anything on it on google or the arch forums it seems...
basically, gnome-screensaver works for blank screen, pictures folder and floating feet; the rest of the screensavers display a black screen in the preferences dialog, and when previewing they show just a grey screen. I'm assuming cosmos, munch, pacman and popsquares are opengl as I can see no other distintion between them and the ones that do work...
does anyone have any thoughts as to where to start for finding some kind of fix?
thanks

This issue happens here too. :-(

update : I tried installing xscreensaver, which loaded gnome-screensaver up with a LOT of screensavers; including ones that use opengl. The original screensavers that didn't work are still not working however, so I'm not so sure what the problem is now...
edit : I also want to report that I've attempted to recompile with no luck... still no leads

I have a slightly different problem, but wasn't sure it warranted a new thread.
I am able to see opengl screensavers in the preview window. I can also get a full-screen preview. If I invoke the screensaver module directly from the command line (ex.: $ /usr/lib/xscreensaver/gltext ), it also works (albeit in a small window). So it doesn't seem to be quite the same issue as described in http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/12479
However, gnome-screensaver will not launch the screensaver after the timeout period. It simply fades to a black screen. Screensavers that are not opengl do not have this problem. Normally, I wouldn't care at all, but I have become accustomed to using "gltext" as a clock - it's very handy that way
Any ideas? Is this a bug, or is there some arcane config somewhere that I'm missing?
I'm not using compiz or anything fancy like that..
