Well I just picked up a new monitor. It's an LG Flatron 18.9" and I'm pretty happy with it, but I can't get X to run in 1440x900 screen resolution.I've been searching and trying different things for a couple hours now and just can't seem to get anything but 1280x1024.

SubSection "Display"
Virtual 1440 900

Modes "1440x900"

EndSection
But when I restarted X everything was garbled. I had to ctrl+alt+backspace and remove Virtual 1440 900 to get things so I could see what I was doing again.
I've also run xrandr -s 1440x900 and it replies:
Size 1440x900 not found in available modes
Help would be greatly appreciated!

what if you don't use the vesa video driver? or did you try that already?
Did your old monitor get 1440x900?
Fustrated Windows users have two options.
1. Resort to the throwing of computers out of windows.

I switched to the open source ati driver and everything works fine. I can't believe I didn't try that in the first place. Thanks!
