My mistake, shouldnt have included the 1 when using dd, was fixed by using...
sudo dd bs=8M if=arch2009.img of=/dev/sdb
when i try and install arch from a usb key, i get the text "GRUB" displayed and a flashing cursor, nothing else. I've tried formatting and re-writing the image to the usb key several times to no avail, always get the same reponse. I assume the usb key is fine as I put ubuntu onto it yesterday and it ran fine.
I tried using unetbootin and dd.
sudo dd bs=8M if=arch2009.img of=/dev/sdb1
I have tried the ftp as well as the core i686 img files.
any ideas people?
