Hello my fellow archers.
Recently I bought a Dell Inspiron 1525 and almost everything is working fine with Linux (thanks by the wiki page about it, BTW). The problem is I can't use both microphones at the "same" time (not actually at the same time, but you'll understand as you read).
At first, I tried using 'options snd-hda-intel model=auto' in my /etc/modprobe.conf. Using this option, the built-in mic works fine, but I can't use the external microphone jack (it'll make no noise, no matter what options I use in alsamixer).
Then, after reading again the wiki page, I've tried using 'options snd-hda-intel model=3stack' and now the external jack works, but no sign of life comes from the built-in mic (of course I unplugged the external mic before trying to use the internal one).
Once I've tried OSS4, but I discarted it because it wouldn't work with ardour. I've tried again with ardour 2.8 and it should work, if only I could make it record any sound. I've tried messing with ossxmix, but I wasn't able to record anything, being with audacity, ardour or ossrecord.
I don't have any strong preferences over any one of them. I do prefer OSS4 a little bit, but I promise I won't cry if I find the solution to this problem using ALSA.
TIA.

I found the solution in the Gentoo wiki, I should use 'options snd-hda-intel model=dell-bios'.
I've already edited our wiki entry.
