[SOLVED] System freezes at startx - Eee pc 900

After reinstalling Arch, xorg and a kernel (Toofishes 2.6.29.1-1) on my Eee pc 900,
the keyboard and touchpad do not work after startx.
The whole system freezes and I have shutdown and restart with the powerbutton.

Same problem occurs when I install an older (Toofishes) kernel, or use an hwd created xorg.conf.
(Whereas normally I would use the example from the Arch+Eee wiki here.)
I tried the different combinations between these without positive result.

Does it have anything to do with a new xorg version?
And can someone indicate what I could try to make it work again?

Ps: I did install the xf86-video-intel and xf86-input-synaptics drivers

Do you know about input hotplugging? If not, read this.

Brilliant, thanks!

Installed xf86-input-evdev and hal and everything works again without an xorg.conf.
