[SOLVED] firefox font issues

I'm having some trouble with font in firefox on certain websites.
Here is an example:

As you can see bold text has big space between the letters.
All font settings in firefox are default.
Any ideas what's causing this?

Ugh ! smile
Have you installed ms-fonts ? ( pacman -S ttf-ms-fonts ). This should improve
the situation somewhat.

Re: [SOLVED] firefox font issues

One workaround with such issues is to set some good fonts in firefox preferences and uncheck "Allow pages to choose their own fonts..." check box. But it has some other problems, such as pages displaying with some other-than-webmaster-wanted font. Mostly it's good, though.

Re: [SOLVED] firefox font issues

What are your default font settings?  I changed mine to Times New Roman, Arial, and Courier New and haven't had any problems, but I can't remember what it was before the change.

Re: [SOLVED] firefox font issues

changing the font settings didn't help.
But it's fixed now.
Just installed firefox 3.1b3 and that problem is gone now.

Re: [SOLVED] firefox font issues

well if anyone else has that issue and none of the above help (as it happened to me), in my case i was simply missing the gtk-font-name entry in ~/.gtkrc-2.0 ...

if ff is picking up the theme but not the font, this might be it. I used gtkprefs to set my theme and it didnt write this in, only gtk-theme-name.
