In our school computers we use Firefox as a browser and Evolution for email. But both under Windowmaker (Me) and Gnome (The rest of the school) we can't get Firefox to be the default browser. Under WM Firefox continually pops up a window asking if Firefox should be the default browser but it doesn't stay that way. Furthermore, clicking on links from email does not bring up Firefox.

I think, basically, you could set the $BROWSER Variable in your .bashrc to mozilla-firefox... I'm not sure, if this works for Windowmaker and I'm also not sure wether this really has an impact on Firefox asking for the default browser (Firefox never "asked" me on a Linux-like OS...)

Could you write exactly what should be in the Bashrc. Currently there is nothing in the Bashrc about browsers.

try checking evolution settings - it may have it's own (like gaim) that determines what browser to use

I added this line to the bashrc......no change.
I found nothing in the Evolution settings to allow me to choose a browser. I know how to do this in Kmail but we want to use the mailmerge funcitons with Open Office in our school so I am now using Evolution
