Just wondering what an average disc usage is for one's / partition. Mine is right around 4.0 gigs. I just cleaned my old pacman packages pacman -Scc and then I ran ncdu -x / on my system's disk space usage. My /usr seems to be pretty darn large.
2.8GB [##########] /usr
654.8MB [## ] /opt
133.2MB [ ] /var
97.4MB [ ] /lib
14.6MB [ ] /sbin
11.5MB [ ] /etc
9.2MB [ ] /boot
5.7MB [ ] /bin
2.3MB [ ] /root
I have the following under /usr:
1.3GB [##########] /share
1.1GB [######## ] /lib
Just wondering about other people's / usage.

here's mine. It's a pretty minimal setup on my laptop. I don't really think your /usr is overly large for the size of your installation.
