Looks like something wasn't installed properly. How did you install eclipse-cdt?

I see. I use eclipse for my research, both for programming and report writing, so I keep a separate self-installed directory for it, as I dual-boot arch and some other distro (backup) and want to use the same software/settings for a few of my important tasks.
Quick solution if you're in a rush is to download and install from their website. But the arch package should just work, I'm looking at the PKGBUILD now, and nothing interesting there actually. Does this happen after selecting a workspace or before? If after, try deleting your workspace, or more specifically your workspace's metadata (the folder 'workspace' in your home folder contains a .metadata folder with all your settings). If before, then we'll need to look at something else.

I can't get Eclipse to work at all either. I get the same error message. It doesn't matter if I uninstall cdt and try plain jane Eclipse, either.

i got the same error and this is what i did:
1. i did a rm /var/cache/pacman/pkg/eclipse*
2. pacman -R eclipse
3. (in your home folder) mv .eclipse .eclipse.bak
4. pacman -Sy eclipse
