Here's my subtle setup.  I'm enjoying uzbl as well; the arch community is really cranking out a lot of nice programs.  And yes, my battery is awesome enough to run at 226% capacity.

That is also conky. It's 2 RSS feeds. Here's the text portion of that conky file:

${color9}Slashdot${color0}
${rss http://rss.slashdot.org/Slashdot/slashdot 30 item_titles 5}

${color9}NPR${color0}
${rss http://www.npr.org/rss/rss.php?id=1007 30 item_titles 5 }

So they update every 30 minutes (don't want to spam them) and are set to display 5 titles at a time.

Conky can't really display pictures, but it can display whatever font you want. Even fonts that consist entirely of logos/pictures smile

I got the arch logo on top from here.

Re: May 2009 Screenshots

My own screenshots:

Window Manager: xmonad
IRC Client: irssi
Firefox Theme: iBlu
Terminal Emulator: urxvt with custom configs (obviously)
Login Manager: Slim using parallel-dimensions theme
Background: I don't set it so the background you see is what's left from the login manager :D
Unclutter (program) : get rid of that annoying mouse

urxvt launch:
"urxvt -tr +sb -fg green -bg black -sh 25"

custom keys to launch programs:
"firefox" - mod + f
"mpc play" - mod + u
"mpc stop" - mod + i
"mpc | sed -n -e 's/.*://' -e 's/^[ \t]*//;1p' >> favorites" (add current to favorites file from my internet stream) - mod + o

1) ff + irssi (normally I have them on seperate desktops but I put them together for posting :P)
ffnirssi.th.png

2) irssi by itself on one desktop
irssi.th.png

3) clean, could have been only my background but I don't want to bind scrot just to post screenshots :P
clean.th.png

Current setup uses about 300MiB of memory (that includes buffers and cache). Running Firefox w/ Flash, mpd, xmonad, irssi and etc!!! :D

Just for the sake of completeness, the original design is by fablefire. It can be seen in its original (T-shirt) form here. I just used GIMP to center the design over a background of the same green as the shirt.

Re: May 2009 Screenshots

New machine. Still setting things up.

2009-05-10-202104_256x150_scrot-thumb.png

Machine is a Dell Mini 9 running with kms, xcompmgr and xmonad (as usual). xmonad feels a little heavy for this machine, not the application itself which runs fine, but the dependencies such as ghc which weigh in at close to 100Mb from memory. kms gave awful performance in urxvt for some reason. Seems to be a fairly common problem with xf86-video-intel or the current kernel. Not sure which. Running xcompmgr makes the problem go away. Ironically running with transparency enabled through xcompmgr gives better urxvt performance than running without it when kms is enabled.
