Hi all!
I normally like to burn some time on http://www.kongregate.com/
It's a website full of flash games. It's very well organized and most games are very good.
However, lately I've been having some issues with it. The games load OK, but the when the chat client starts to load Firefox just hangs using 100% CPU. I've tried it with Epiphany and the result is the same.
It was working fine, but about 2 weeks ago I started to have this issue.
Does anyone else experience this or is it just me? If more people have the same problem maybe I should submit a bug report.
I'm on Arch64 and using the flashplugin from the repo.
Thanks for your feedback.

After so many views nobody tried Kongregate?
I'm impressed. It's such a good time burner. =-)
Anyway, googling a lot (and I mean a lot really) it turns out to be a flash issue...
http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-1104
A bug has been reported quite some time ago - "Created: 11/27/08 06:06 PM", but the people at adobe don't seem to care much about Linuxers...
I guess I'll just have to change to Gnash or something... Maybe it will work better, who knows?
Oh yeah, and the culprit was an update on Kongregate's chat system.
I guess this issue is as solved as it can... for now...

i am experiencing exactly the same problem as you.
i submitted a bug report to kongregate and they confirmed that the problem comes from adobe.

I haven't tried Gnash yet, but I must admit I don't expect it to work very well.
At best, I expect the games to load, but eventually be so buggy they will be unplayable...
When I get the chance I will eventually try it, but right now I'm in a kind of tight schedule...
If you do care to try it, tough, I'd be more than happy to hear your feedback. =-)

I don't think it is necessarily /just/ a flash issue; kongregate updated their flash thing they use to embed games and it broke the site for firefox (or just made very laggy).
Workaround is to use a different browser, midori and uzbl (both based on webkit) work fine.

Thank you for your tip, sentientswitch!
I will try it as soon as I get the chance!
Will report back when I do.

Wow!
I have tried Midori and not only it works great with kongregate, it's blazing fast too!
I am truly impressed. I will mark this thread effectively solved.
thank you very much, sentientswitch.
