When I try to preview video in handbrake, before running a full conversion, I get a dialogue that says "missing gstreamer plugin" and the preview doesn't play. But I have gstreamer installed. It installs as a dependency with Handbrake. Anybody know what's up with this and how to get the video preview to work? Thanks.

Okay, I figured out that even though only gstreamer0.10-base is considered a dependency for Handbrake for the preview function to work I also needed gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg (for the video) and gstreamer0.10-bad, gstreamer0.10-bad-plugins, gstreamer0.10-ugly, and gstreamer0.10-ugly-plugins (one of these made the audio work, I'm sure which since I installed them all at once).
What's the difference by the way between gstreamer0.10-bad and gstreamer0.10-bad-plugins?

I had the same problem, googled to find a solution and found this (I know it's old, but I had the exact same error message and no clear solution). So, in my case, I did "pacman -S gst-libav gstreamer-vaapi gst-transcoder gst-plugins-ugly" (I didn't wanted to install gstreamer-XXX-bad, as it sounded like a bad solution). So maybe installing gst-plugins-ugly, which we both have in common, did it...

Then open a new topic. Don't resurrect one from 10 years ago. The gstreamer-0.10 packages aren't even in the official repos any more.
