xfs and grub...

Has anyone had any problems installing Arch with an xfs filesystem ?
I have tried thrice and it always hangs at the point where it poses the
question 'Would you like to install grub to any more hard drives ?'.

I've used the 2009.1 installation disk and an older one... same result.
Other than that I can add no more.

Any takers ?

Deej

[EDIT]

Ooops... I can add more - I'm running x86_64

Re: xfs and grub...

Further tests - formatting to xfs with a gParted Rescue Disk and then installing,
declining to format the partitions when asked, proved fruitless.
Grub isn't being installed at all. Hey, I've found a bug, sorry: feature smile:):)

Bug report submitted.

Re: xfs and grub...

I had no problems formatting and creating XFS partitions from 2009.2

Since you formatted ahead of time and skipped this in the installer...I'm going to assume you got to the grub install step (I think this is what you're implying)... Which partition are you selecting to install grub to if it gets to that point? Are you sure its the correct device and partition?

In my experience, Grub refuses if you choose the wrong device...can't say its ever hung at that point though. Hope you resolve soon...

Re: xfs and grub...

Hi, thanks for the reply.
To clarify:

I'm installing to a SATA II drive.
Partitioned the drive using both the Arch partitioner
and a third-party partitioner.
In each case the install halts at the point where it poses the
question 'Would you like to install grub to any more hard drives ?'.
This is after it should have installed Grub, which it hasn't done.

This could be as Sata II problem - I never use a '/boot' partition
with my Sata II drive... but all other file systems work OK without one.

No great shakes for me - I was just experimenting with FS timings, but
if it is a bug...
