hello,
ok lets say i kill X by pressing ctrl+alt+backspace, if i type xinit or any other command to start it back up i just get a blinking cursur and cant switch runlevels or anything else for that matter, nothing responds (not even my power button unless i hold it in for cold shutdown)
when i start X after boot for the first time it works fine, this indicates, for me, that its not an xorg.conf problem.
also if i kill X, clear the log and then try and start X (having to hold do a cold shutdown then boot back up) nothing shows in the log.
can anyone give me some advice on this.
Thanks,
Philly
Lightweight software dose not mean less! It just means you have to get your finger out and make it do and look like you want!

Add this in your xorg.conf:
Section "ServerFlags"
Option "DontZap" "false"
EndSection
to enable restart X with ctrl+alt+backspace...

hello Pyntux,
sorry i think you miss understood.
I want CTRL+ALT+Backspace to be enabled, and it is.
however,
when i do kill X i just cant start it back up again, when i try to start it back up it just locks up the system.
[edit]
event when say, slim closes its self it locks up rather then respawning
cheers
