Re: recent intel update problem

I don't use sdlname so I cannot tell. But I have another problem after recent intel driver update. With KMS enabled, when shutdown or restart I cannot see shuting down information anymore, replaced by a black screen with an unmovable mouse pointer, but boot loading information still displays correctly.

Re: recent intel update problem

I got frequent lookups of the X server every now and then...after downgrading to the old versions the problem seems to be gone.

I also have a Intel X4500HD and the same problem. KMS is not enabled.
Informations at boot appear and everything is ok. When shutting down I get a flickering screen, LCD backlight ist constantly turned off and on until the machine shuts down. Same thing if X is started and I am switching to VC1 - screen flickers. Weird thing is: if I switch from X to VC1 the screen flickers, then I switch back to X and again to VC1, now it is gone. I also can see shutdown messages again when shutting down....

It might because I have KMS enabled, so when shutting down it's not flickering, but it's a constantly black screen with an unmovable mouse pointer. I've searched around and didn't find a similar report regarding this problem, maybe we should issue a bug report?

Ok, why not. Never issued a bug report before....:)
Is there any information I can give you for this? I have a Thinkpad SL500, running Arch64...

Do you have the same problems when switching from X to VC1?

Re: recent intel update problem

I got a similiar problem with ioq3-1.36 with KMS/UXA on X11.
IOQ3 runs fine, but when it wan't to quit the game i got this:

]\quit
----- CL_Shutdown -----
Closing SDL audio device...
SDL audio device shut down.
RE_Shutdown( 1 )
Mesa 7.4.2 implementation error: invalid reference to a deleted texture object
Please report at bugzilla.freedesktop.org
ioquake3.x86_64: main/texobj.c:305: _mesa_reference_texobj: Assertion `valid_texture_object(oldTex)' failed.
Received signal 6, exiting...
----- CL_Shutdown -----
WARNING: Recursive shutdown
^C

I have to switch always to my terminal an kill IOQ3 by hand.
Also Counter-Strike 1.5 (via Wine) crashed my system, if I quit the game.

Problem occured with the list driver-updates this week.

Re: recent intel update problem

dont' know.

something interesting:
if i play cs1.6 the first time everything is fine.
when i leave the game, restart the game and leave it again > crash

i have also problems with cs1.5, if i play cs1.5 and leave the game > crash

and with quake3 the system will not crash when i leave the game, but i have to switch to vt and kill the game by hand.

everything since the last driver update.

Re: recent intel update problem

I've downgraded all graphics related packages of the recent update, they are libgl, mesa, intel-dri and xf86-video-intel, then it's fixed.

Re: recent intel update problem

I've patched the problem - its not gone thorough testing yet, but it seems pretty obvious omission.

I've put it upstream, but any willing victims to test are welcome to try.
