Login page for wireless connection

I need to access an internet browser and log on in order to connect to the internet. I've tried elinks, lynx, links, and w3m but none of them can load the login page properly. (all that comes up is a black screen). I'm wondering if there are any other alternatives to authenticate myself to the network. I've search these forums and haven't found anything. Thanks.

not sure what is required here, maybe

wget --http-user=USER --http-password=PASS

will help -- that works on my router interface, but then again, so does links so i dunno
