Installing on a Compaq Tablet PC 1000

The USB keyboard of my Tablet PC is not recognized by the the default boot kernel of Wombat release.
Up to now the only solution I have found is to unmount the HD, connect it to my desktop PC, install the base system and enable the ohci-hcd (kernel 2.6.9) module before reinstalling the HD on the Tablet and going on with the normal installation.
Has anyone a suggestion to semplify the process avoiding the HD unmounting?

No, unfortunately the detachable keyboard of my tc1000 (Transmeta Crusoe processor) is an USB unit!
