[SOLVED] who return nothing in xterm

Hi,

I am sure, it is a stupid question, but nevertheless: why does "who" or "w" return nothing, when called from xterm?
I am using xfce with xdm, and if called from xfce's Terminal, "who" shows my username and pts/...

Thanks in advance.

Re: [SOLVED] who return nothing in xterm

Because you need to recompile xterm with libutempter[#1] or just grant a perm to access to utmp. The same is apply to Konsole from KDE. In this case kdelibs needs to recompile against utempter, (also is valid for screen command)

Xfce Terminal, like Gnome Terminal, have a daemon called pty-helper, that is executed as root, so t can write to utmp.
