MPlayer broken?

Hi all,

Yesterday I upgraded to the latest MPlayer 0.91-1, but when trying to start it I get the error message that shared object file libasound.so.2 can not be loaded. I use Current + Unofficial and I should have all the packages up-to-date (with yesterday's state). Is there something I am missing or is MPlayer broken?

Re: MPlayer broken?

This should be fixed by upgrading sdl to 1.2.5-4.

OK, I'll try that. This of course explains my trouble as SDL update appeared later than MPlayer update and I did my system upgrade between these two events. It also brings us to an important issue -- is it possible te declare depencencies not only in the form "Mplayer depends on SDL", but "MPlayer depends on SDL >= 1.2.5" as well?

Re: MPlayer broken?

To answer your question: yes, pacman can handle version comparators within deps.

Anyway, this is not relevant there: the error was only related to a problem with sdl-1.2.5-3 package, which is fixed in sdl-1.2.5-4.
