i just realized, that kernel 2.6.9 broke my lp and therefore my printing on the laptop ...
it's a thinkpad a31p with a standard ltp1 connection to my printer and in windows, printing works fine
anyone knows, what happened?

can you be more specific about what happened?
are you loading
parport
parport_pc
lp
modules?

lp and parport load fine ... but the kernel says this while loading:
kernel: lp: driver loaded but no devices found
what makes me crazy, because the parallelport exists for sure and works also fine on winxp ... unfortunately, i don't know exactly since when this problem exist, as i didn't print anything for a while ... it is not the kernel, as i remember using my printer on 2.6.9 before ... it is either initscripts or udev or something else
... and there is also no /dev/lp0 any more (that's why cups is no longer able to print)

If you're using hotplug, then add "alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc" to your modprobe.conf, otherwise just load parport_pc as aias said.
