xfree86 to x.org

Hi,
Can someone please point me to the instructions for upgrading from xfree86 to X.org?  I read it a long time ago and I can't figure out how to get to them again  .  I have browsed the Wiki and searched the forums but couldn't find this particular page again.  it was something very simple like so:

if you are upgrading from xfree to x.org do the following:
pacman -Rd xfree
pacman -S x

or something like that...

TIA

Re: xfree86 to x.org

I believe it would be something like :
pacman -Rf xfree86
pacman -S xorg

if the first package name isn't xfree86, just do a
pacman -Qi | grep "^x"
and take a look at the package name.

Re: xfree86 to x.org

sounds good.  I am just concerned about the config file.  I know there is a wiki for it.  I just hope I can use my XFree86Config w/ minimum changes.

thanks again for your replies.

Re: xfree86 to x.org

there is a recent post about the steps needed and i also believe there is an archived news release but :

pacman -Rd xfree86
pacman -S xorg

then change the name of your conf file to xorg.conf. the only change you may have to make is in the keyboard section or something (there are a few posts about this on the forum)

the keyboard driver isn't even required (it's just a good idea) as the newer Xorg packages include a symlink from the old driver name to the new one
