[Solved] quake3 doesn't start

Hi,

when I try to start quake3, the screen tuns black for a second and return immediately back to the desktop with the following error:

I use the x86_64 platform by the way and the following package from the aur:

I was using fglrx driver in Ubuntu Hardy and that was just OK. But after switching to ArchLinux, i faced this problem.

Ok. I solved my problem. I created an autoexec.cfg by using this generator http://www.quaketweaks.com/config.html. All you have to do is to choose 16 bit for r_colorbits and r_texturebits from this form. Generate config file and put it in to your game directory. Then type ./quake.86 that should work.

And if you're having "no sound" issue than download this package http://nullkey.ath.cx/~stuff/et-sdl-sou … l-sound.gz Extract it to your game directory, edit and put it into your game directory. Make it executable, after that you can start game by typing "sh quake3-sdl-sound" in your game directory.

Hope this works for you too.
