(SOLVED) Intel wifi 4965 not seeing networks

Hi.

Since kernel 2.6.29 wifi doesn't work well on my intel wifi 4965 laptop.
Either it's using networkmanager, wicd or iwlist scanning I could see and connect to most networks, but unfortunately not mines.
Well, they are 3 networks all on totally different routers I use that cannot even be seen :
- an hidden and open network
- a wpa 802.11g network, wicd sees it as <hidden> but I couldn't force it's ESSID. This network isn't even hidden, it just have a slow beacon rate (I don't know how to configure it)
- a wpa 802.11g/n, my isp's router

Until today I tough I missed something during the update to the new kernel, but finally it doesn't seem to be, as I just reinstalled a brand new archlinux from last iso.
One funny fact is that an other laptop can see theses networks, even airodump + 4965 does.

Here is the dmesg regarding that wireless card :

cfg80211: Calling CRDA to update world regulatory domain
iwlagn: Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link AGN driver for Linux, 1.3.27ks
iwlagn: Copyright(c) 2003-2008 Intel Corporation
iwlagn 0000:0c:00.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 17 (level, low) -> IRQ 17
iwlagn 0000:0c:00.0: setting latency timer to 64
iwlagn: Detected Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN REV=0x4
iwlagn: Tunable channels: 13 802.11bg, 19 802.11a channels
wmaster0 (iwlagn): not using net_device_ops yet
phy0: Selected rate control algorithm 'iwl-agn-rs'
wlan0 (iwlagn): not using net_device_ops yet

the dmesg above, is that of the working or non-working card? if it's the former; do you have crda installed on the non-working laptop? you will need this in case your networks use a channel above 11.

Re: (SOLVED) Intel wifi 4965 not seeing networks

Ok I don't know how to thank you, but this database did the trick. I'm now able to connect to both of my wireless access points, I think the one at my work might run too.

But still I don't understand how it could work. I mean, the third network I talked about was configured to be visible on channel 11. The laptop wasn't able to see this network, but was able to see other channel 11 configured network. The only way I could 'see' my network was using airodump-ng.
Well, I don't know if I should really bother, I'm too happy that I got wireless again that I don't really care about understanding bizarre things.

Re: (SOLVED) Intel wifi 4965 not seeing networks

that third router was the 802.11n one? in my experience the intel cards now always need crda for n-routers. it can be a pretty frustating thing to debug i know, since this chance was only just recently (and sort of silently) introduced..

Re: (SOLVED) Intel wifi 4965 not seeing networks

That's the case, the weird thing happened on a 802.11n router.
Now there are logical explanations for everything, many thanks !
