i still have the problem on 3 of 4 machines.
2 are running arch64 and the other archi686.
does anyone have an idea. a already removed brasero.

I have this problem on 2 of my 2 machines, and removing brasero doesn't make any change.
Annoying thing... maybe the bug should be reopened?

You seem to be in a great position to determine the package causing the issue...

Oh, that was stupid I haven't found the correct bug report so far. My problem was similar to http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/14449, and uninstalling gnome-mplayer worked. Then I've recompiled it with a correct path (from the bug discussion)... and voila! - everything works great and I have my favorite media player :-).
