Re: nvidia 6629-2 in testing

No difference for me either, still not working. My card:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV18 [GeForce4 MX440 AGP 8x] (rev a2) (prog-if 00 [VGA])
Subsystem: CardExpert Technology: Unknown device 0412
Flags: bus master, 66Mhz, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 16
        Memory at f0000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16M]
        Memory at e8000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=128M]
Expansion ROM at <unassigned> [disabled] [size=128K]
Capabilities: [60] Power Management version 2
        Capabilities: [44] AGP version 3.0

Thank you for your efforts in trying to fix this tpowa.

Re: nvidia 6629-2 in testing

I tested the new driver and got a full hang (lockup) of my system when normally the NVidia splash screen would be displayed.

Hardware:
VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NVCrush11 [GeForce2 MX Integrated Graphics] (rev b1)
(integrated w/ NFORCE chipset)

Couldn't find any useful messages in the logs.

Re: nvidia 6629-2 in testing

I tested 6629-1 too and had similar problems.

Reverted to 6111-3. (I'm using kernel 2.6.9).

Re: nvidia 6629-2 in testing

I used 6629-1 and -2, same results (Ctrl-Alt-Backspace is required to recover in either case).  Nothing of interest in xorg log file.  I will try 6111-3 tonight, if I can find it.

Thank you all for the help.

Re: nvidia 6629-2 in testing

you can browse arch cvs for older pkgbuilds
the 2.6.9.patch can be found in Attic in cvs

Re: nvidia 6629-2 in testing

I can't get into Attic or any of the CVS (except with the web browser interface).  I get a connection denied when I try to log in using:
# export CVSROOT=:pserver:anonymous@cvs.archlinux.org:/home/cvs-arch
# touch ~/.cvspass
# cvs login

Re: nvidia 6629-2 in testing

Works for me except when I try to switch to console

ctrl-alt-F2

or end my x-session.  When I try to do either of those, the system hangs and I have to do hard reboot.
Nvidia claim that  driver versions >=6111 fixed this console restore issue on the GF4 Ti4200 based cards, but apparently they are wrong.  I'm stuck using the patched 4363 driver from minion.de
