XFCE4 is shipped with mousepad and I used to Gnome and loved its gedit application, it was perfect when working with webdevelopment becouse of the colors inside.
Is there a good texteditor for XFCE4 instead of mousepad that I think was not that good for editigt html/php/css files?
Guess if I want gedit I have to install a bunch of gnome-dependencies...

Geany is pretty cool. Makes me wish I'd used it instead of gedit when I was using Ubuntu.

+1 for Geany.
Bluefish is nice too, I don't know about the dependencies.

geany?

I like it.

medit is also a good text editor, without many dependencies, and more lightweight than geany (it's just an editor, not a whole IDE).

Thx guys, good suggestions!

Since this thread is quite old (it was a result of google search), did anything changed here or I should still use `geany` or `medit` to edit text files? Thanks

Why not just use gedit? It has no gnome specific dependencies as one might think.

this is necro and more than likely will be closed..............but
if we are going to argue against gedit and geany because of options gedit, for medit more option yet still limited; is fine but is the difference between nano and vim.

You should try them both (and any others you are interested in) and come to pour own conclusions.
