Hi, I have a Dell Latitude D610 with Ati Mobility X300. One day I noticed one ugly thing. It turns the LCD off after approx. 2 min of inactivity on battery and on AC power - it turns back on when i move my mouse. On battery it is quite ok, though it is not set in the Power management menu in gnome. What bugs me a lot is the fact that it does the same thing on AC power, cause I cannot watch movies on this thing... Any help? It really pisses me off. Thanks...

Shit... this is pretty bad bug. So if I understand it properly, the only way to avoid this thing is either downgrading kernel or
xset -dpms
which completely disables the display power management... well I think I'll downgrade kernel. Thanks

But if I recall it didn't do this thing since recently, though I have never upgraded kernel in this installation of arch on this machine.

no. is a bug in gnome-power-manager. you can downgrade to 2.24.something or avoid to the "never" setup

Well I tried the never setup and it works perfectly for me, It even dims the display when idle... I have added the line to my script which invokes compiz when gnome is loaded. Doesn't turn off anymore. Don't know why
