Network problems

Hi everybody,
i am running Arch i686 at the moment and everything works great. I want to upgrade to x86_64. So i downloaded the latest iso i686 to try it out
in Virtualbox to see if Installation works. But I can't get my network running, which is weird because it works right now, so my hardware must be supported.
I have a MCP67 Ethernet (rev a2) onboard ethernet card connected to an allnet 1682 power to ethernet adaptor.
I have tried to use dhcpcd, it says that the network was configured but I have a wrong ip address and it doesent work.
So I have tried to setup the network manually with:

ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.107
route add default gw 192.168.1.1 eth0

but this also didn't work.
Anybody have any idea want is going wrong? Do i have to modprobe some kernel modules manually because automatic hardware detection fails?
I never had any problems with the older releases.

So which version are you running in VB? Might this be a VB issue? Can you install it the usual way i.e. on a partition and not in VB?

i am runing the i686 version in vb.
I tried to boot from the cd and setup the network but this also doesnt work (want to do a ftp installation), so I dont think its an vb problem.

So your current i686 setup is running fine, but the CD you downloaded has problems w/ your network? When you installed Arch previously did you have any problems w/ your network? Did you change your networking setup since then?
Power to ethernet means you get internet from a powerline?

1 yes
2 no when I installed (2008.6) arch last time everything worked without any problems.
3 I didnt change my network setup in any way since then
4 yes from a powerline

Is your current system kept current i.e. when was the last time you run 'pacman -Syu'?
powet-to-ethernet may be non-standard but I have no idea whether it matters for the networking soft.

yes system is up to date. last pacman -Syu was 10 minutes ago

I'm sorry, but I have no idea why Arch 2008.6 worked w/ your setup and the current one doesn't. Maybe there were some changes introduced in the meantime that prevent the proper hw detection and network configuration. You may want to search / post to networking forum.

Can you ping a website? What does 'ifconfig -a' says?

I carried the computer downstairs and connected it directly to the router without the powerline adaptor, but nothing changed.
I  booted Ubunutu 9.04 live cd and ethernet worked out of the box.
So I think there is a problem in the arch installation prozess.
anyone know when the next release is planned? Tried out archboot too, but didn't work either.

I still see Arch 2008.6 on the mirrors. Maybe you can install it and update via 'pacman -Syu'?
