Switching to text console from X cause system hang

Hi,
Another problem with X.
I have old laptop with intel 855gm on board and latest x server (I used pacman -Suy to get system updated)
The problem is:
Any time when I switch to text console from X (I use kde 4.2 as desktop) - I get my system frozen.
It does not react to anythyng, moreover after reboot by power button it does not check disk for erros - system says that disk is clean.
I dont use VGA console, only text.
And I did not configured X settings - I used it with default - everything seems working fine, even glxgears gives me about 400 fps - it is very good for such old card.
Could anybody advice me what is a problem?

Re: Switching to text console from X cause system hang

Are you using the vesa driver or the xf86-video-intel driver? I noticed the same problem with the xf86-video-vesa driver on an older intel integrated graphics board (82845). I didn't have that problem with the intel drivers (when I could find one that worked, at least sad )
