[SOLVED] 2 hdds for /

ok, what i want to do is mount 2 40 gig hdds on /, but i dont know how this would work out.  would linux just see it as 1 80 gig, or would it see it as 2 40's, and if it does see it as 2, how would i be able to tell it which files to put where?  thanks in advance for the help
