Cannot install ArchLinux PPC

Hello,

I am wanting to try Arch Linux on my iBook G4.
I was previously under Gentoo, but three-days long compilations at each system update are more than I can cope with.

I read here :

that I was not forced to use the quickinst-script anymore, so I assumed the unmentionned other method is the one that use the setup script.

I donwloaded the Archlinux-ppc-2008.08.1-Core-Dump.iso file, burned it and booted from it.
Here are the troubles I run In :

Setup install, from CD
There is no /src/core/pkg directory in the CD

Setup install, from FTP
When trying to reproduce, I'm running into a "530 : max number of client from your host (2) are already connected" error,  which I can't solve because the connections were made before I rebooted, so I can't close them.

The error I encoutered before were :
First, impossible to download Pacman (solved by changing the adress in the script code from pacman*.pkg.tar.gz to pacman-3.2.2.-1-ppc.pkg.tar.gz)
Then error while expanding it (which I was unable to solve, but I don't remember why, and I cant reproduce it).

Quickinst install
First : impossible to expand pacman, solved by putting a forgotten '*' in the script code.
Then, impossible to find pacman.static binary, solved by removing '.static' from the script code
Eventually (cannot reproduce, probably because of the 530 error mentionned above) pacman will install everything but not in /mnt, in the current root (I checked the code, pacman is invoked with the -r $DESTDIR option, and $DESTDIR is /mnt).
This makes the chroot fail, as it doesn't find /mnt/bin/bash.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Try the new iso. You can download it from [1]. I think the wiki is quite old, so I don't know if following it is the best way to do the installation. Try to follow the instructions step-by-step of installer.

Let us know..

but I can't even boot on it. My computer tries, but gives up after 2/3 seconds.

I left the option "verifiy after burning" when I burned it, so a burning mistake is unlikely.

I don't have any CD left to try an older version.

Because I need my laptop at school, I put a debian on it. But it's a bit too cluterred for me so if you have any idea on how to solve the problem, I'm still interested.

I also tried the new version, to no avail. I think the install manual should be rewritten totally, because ,as is , it is of no use, I can't get ppc Arch working, by any means.(G4 Ibook)

the 3/30/09 image is in the release directory on that ftp.
I'm about to try since i have 3 others that are either missing the /arch dir, wget, pacman,static or a combination of those.
Hopefully the 3/30 cd is a fix of the 3/29 cd, i guess i'll see...
