I've read this http://www.svalander.se/shoppen/kernelstreaming.htm . It's recommendations to use a kernel streaming plug-in to get the cleanest output. The recommended configuration is Vista + Winamp + ksplugin. Such a configuration isn't very practical as a headless system, and not what I'm looking for.
This is the site for ksplugin http://www.stevemonks.com/ksplugin/ .
Does anyone know if there's something good enough for Linux? The article I referred to state that the author hadn't found anything as good as the ksplugin for Windows. Since this is enthusiast stuff it could be someone here knows better.
PS. I can't get OSS to work with my current USB/DAC. It's recognized but results in a lot of input/output errors, which I haven't found any solution for. Still I'm not sure OSS has a feature equivalent of ksplugin. DS.

Some days passed so I bump this post. I've been looking and searching but can't really find any useful information.
Hence I got another related question: I know that the real-time patched kernel makes wonder for quality audio recordings, but would that be useful for output of audio?
