[solved] Can't disable PC Speaker.

On my Dell Inspiron 1545, I can't get the PC speaker to go away.
Whenever GDM starts, it emits an ear piercing beep, and I'd really like to be rid of it.

I've added this to rc.conf:

MODULES=(!pcspkr !snd-pcsp)

That didn't seem to do anything, so I added this to .bashrc:

setterm -blength 0
xset -b

That alone has solved all of my problems except for that beep from GDM, is there anyway to get rid of that.  I think it beeps as well when I shutdown, I can't remember for sure.  I'll test it here in a few minutes.

I could just recompile the kernel and disable the PC speaker, but I'm lazy.  tongue
I'll do it if I need to.

Can you not just mute it using alsamixer?

That seems to have done the trick...  Before I had the volume to 0, but I didn't have it "muted" I guess.

Thanks.  tongue
