No more xorg.conf and hwd

Hey.

I just did a fresh install of ArchLinux and since xorg-server > 1.5 doesn't need the xorg.conf anymore I did the setup without hwd. Everything worked fine - a bit to my surprise really.

I still do have a few questions though:

1. Why is there no more xorg.conf?
2. Does the xorg-server/hal need to redetect the hardware every time I restart xorg?
3. Is this also the way things are gonna go once hal is replaced by devitekit? (which apparently isn't gonna take too long)

Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: No more xorg.conf and hwd

1. These days, xorg autodetects hardware, either on its own (for video devices) or by using hal (for input devices). You can still use an xorg.conf if you wish e.g. for nvidia/fglrx.
2. Yes.
3. No idea myself.
