Pacman not working[SOLVED]

Pacman is acting weird for me. When it downloads anything the first time it just sits at "retrieving packages from extra" then I have to hit ctrl-c and ask it to download again and then it works fine. This happens every single time.

Have you tried other mirrors?  Place a different mirror at the top of /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist and see if that helps.

You can edit /etc/pacman.conf and change/uncomment the XferCommand (to wget), that might help you debug the problem.

I just used rankmirrors to choose a different mirror and now it works fine.
