Yesterday, I successfully flashed my BIOS with only ArchLinux on my computer. I did:
1. download a dos boot disk .img file from FreeDos.
2. mount it and delete all its applications inside(cause not enough space for a floppy) and copy my BIOS.BIN and AWDFLASH.BIN
3. then "dd" the img file into a usb
3. finally boot into the usb and flash the BIOS.
I remember I put the .img file into a usb before to install ArchLinux, which is more convenient obviously than burning a CD or DVD, which requires a ISO file. Now my question is:
Most distributions use .ISO files for their live Cd or installer. Is there any command that you can convert an ISO file into a .img file so that you can use "dd if= of=" to put it into a USB? and then you can use it the usb as a live CD.
BTW: why do people prefer ISO than img file type?
