dmesg spammed by acpi messages

hello, so i finally got around to installing arch on my old p4 box, and while everything works just perfectly im seeing a LOT of acpi errors when i checked dmesg. this seems pretty harmless, but i figured i'd ask if anyone had ran into it in the past and knew if i should fix it or just let it be.

here is the output of dmesg | grep ACPI

[z@alx ~]$ dmesg | grep ACPI

Have you installed acpid, and start the daemon at boot? http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Acpid

I didn't, so I installed it and enabled it, but I'm still getting those acpi errors hmm

Re: dmesg spammed by acpi messages

A lot of older boxes had buggy ACPI implementations. You could try upgrading your BIOS to see if it fixes it. Or, if you don't actually need the ACPI support, you could boot with acpi=off - this will keep you from being able to suspend, hibernate, or power off without doing it physically.
