Programs can't use microphone input

I've tried now for a while to get programs to be able to use the microphone (I get it working so it plays outloud in the speakers) but no program seem to be able to use the microphone input.
And I can't see a single guide on the wiki or anything on the forums related to this. I have an onboard soundcard AD1988 and it plays perfectly, just can't send it anywhere.

I primarily need to use it in Marratech (for studying) and I really need this to work within a week so.
All I found on the wikis are guides about dmix and I'm not really sure that's the thing. It seem to be more of a permission thing.

I can't use the standard Sound Recorder and record from it or any other software using the microphone.
I use the Analog Mix to get the sound out in the speakers.

Any ideas about how to proceed?
